I get unreasonably happy when working on a nice box to send someone, especially when I get to savor it for a couple weeks. The open box lives on the bar, and every so often I’ll make something to drop inside, building the mystery bit by bit… Currently in the earholes:

Actually, now that I stare at it some more, I’m thinking it looks more like a 1964 Electra 110. The arrow label on the front of the keyboard, the carriage knob, the red half-space button.. yeah, that would explain why the front face looks different.

Luckily, Composer elements are plentiful, and the people who actually want them is like maybe a half-dozen, so I have high faith that I might someday become the first person […]

Ninety Minutes of CHROME TAPE Marantz-Recorded Goodness from Joe & Mitch, with EXHIBITS! A little addition I made to the Mission Kit, for seeing things in a *different light*. Typewriters of James Bond 007 – From Russia With Love Back to the Bond series re-watch with the director’s commentary, looking for typewriters and identifying them for posterity. (:First shot of a typewriter is almost 20 minutes into the film, as will become the norm, in Moneypenny’s office. That sure looks like a green SCM […]

It’s at times like this that I start to have a little empathy for the villains of a 1970’s Chevy Chase/Goldie Hawn movie. Ya J-Dubs feel free to stuff my security door with Watchtowers, but keep yer dirty theocracy away from the government, thank you very much. Currently in the earholes:

It’s been high time for a rewatch of the James Bond film series, and since I’ve been spending my typewriter money on DVD’s at the thrift store these days, my selection of the nice MGM digital restorations with director’s commentary has grown. I’ve watched these movies so often on VHS or on broadcast or cable […]

The Navidrome also clued me in that I somehow had yet *another* “101 Strings” album; “East of Suez“, which I liked a lot too, but that one is decidedly all orchestral. According to the wikiwiki, “101 Strings” is more of a brand rather than a band, a brand that was sold to a number of […]
