I set up this Typewriter display so Tori and I could take a pic with some of our favorite machines for the CBS News bit, but I couldn't round up a decent camera in time. A few days later, I grabbed Little Jake to type on, and Leoben the Cat decided to make that empty spot his throne.

An Underwood "Forum" electric, spotted and left behind.

This rather flimsy later-model Royal portable was also left behind. The carriage return lever was broken off.

Thanks for posting. It was a lot of fun to see you and Tori on TV.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen an Underwood Forum before … don’t think I care to see one again!

The “Forum” reminds me of “Box”, the angular silver person-freezing robot from the Logan’s Run film. Ugly, electric, standard – 3 strikes. :P

The CBS segment was great and so is your post. You have a nice collection of some very nice machines.
    Thanks for your post.

Awww… my namesake didn’t get to appear in the segment :( Just kidding, I got really excited just seeing the case! Maybe others won’t recognize it, but you and I will know :)

Great segment; really nice to see everyone I had heard about. It was nicely edited and well paced.

Good luck with all the wedding planning; I hope there will be at least one typewriter in attendance!

yeah, I was surprised. they took a lot of film of that machine – slow close-up pans and everything, then they ended up having me send them pics of the Hermes 3000 because they wanted to focus on that instead. :P

(note the pans on the H3000 in the segment are all of like 3 different still pics)

The part where I was talking about the machine being “sensual and sexy” were me talking about the Swissa. :D

Hope your sabbatical to end soon. I really enjoy your posts :)

  5. Welcome back, reality TV star!
