Typewriter Database blasts past 500 individual collector’s galleries!

Whew! It’s been an exciting day for the Typewriter Database. A group of Typewriter Hunters including yours truly has been jockeying for the top spots in the Hunters list on the front page. I tried my best, resorting to uploading parts machines and updating some of my old listings with new links and pictures, but it was for naught. TonS handily knocked me out of first place before I could make this post.

Well, Ok. Not for nothing. I earned myself a bunch of points with those updates. Yes, the points allocated for your Hunting activity on the Typewriter Database are now compiled nightly at 3am Arizona time, or will be when I get the cron job working properly. Currently, the points are compiled as so:

Gallery entry: +1 point each.
if it includes front-facing photo: +3 points.
if it includes type sample: +3 points.
each additional photo uploaded to gallery: +2 points each.
Links added anywhere on the site: +1 point each.

Additionally, I have database-ized the updates log for the Typewriter Database so now it’s easier for me to keep the updates logged, which should mean I’ll do it more. :D

The Updates Log is shown here, under “Updates and News”.

  1. I’m the tortoise in this race, I will just keep making pics and type samples as I use machines in the course of blogging.

  2. Holy crap! Guess I will need to contribute. How will I know if an account has been set up?

    1. You’ll need to sign up for a regular member account here, and let me know what your username is and I’ll upgrade you to Typewriter Hunter access. (:

      1. Welcome Typewriter Hunter Dwayne! (:

  3. Woa! Congratz! 500 is a really really nice start. With the current action of hunters, this will easily go up fast. Who wants to be the person to put the 1000th gallery up there? ;-)

  4. Have no fear of procratination! I have been very far behind on getting anything at all posted. I have plenty of photos from my blog and even ones not posted, but none are good enough for the database gallery.

I have a few that I may be able to get done in the near future. I have also been taking photos of serial number locations and machine repairs. They need indexed and commented.

  5. today is the day you’ll look back on and say, “that was the day we broke 500.” A land mark. Here’s to the next 500!
