  1. What a great painting!!

    (PS: Isaac, not Issac.)

    1. oh, duh – corrected, thanks (:

  2. I’m sure it helped his writing. :)

  3. The painting is awesome; makes me want to snag a baby Selectric.

  4. In the 60’s, the Selectric was super-futuristic. We think of them as historic today, but at the time they embodied everything high-tech, which was perfectly suited for writing science fiction.

  5. BTW, I’m restoring an early 60’s Selectric 721 Level 1 machine. The engineering and build quality of the early machines is higher than later machines where some of the mechanicals were simplified.

    1. Yeah, The Blue Bomber is a Level 1 721, and requires some heavy lifting to get the somewhat inscrutable casing off of it, and careful attention to the margin indicators when putting it back together, but man, the build quality is amazing! (:

  6. Yea, I think IBM realized quickly that for expedient service, the original case was too difficult to remove. The later design was definitely MUCH better.

  7. He also has an awesome double-flourescent-bulb adjustable desk lamp on his desk. Ready to write!
