UJTU: Three Typewriters Improved In One Evening!

Weapon of Choice: “Starbuck” 1964 Hermes Rocket #6027915

Mmmmmmm, the fresh-baked smell of new typewriter feets!

Installation Instructions: Hermes HD2-64 Feets.

The original feet? Hard as rocks, crumbly and downright crispy, and still had to be pried off with a screwdriver.

Oh, glorious, fresh grippy feets!

Weapon of Choice: “Thunderbird 2” 1968 Montgomery Ward Signature 440T #B8860433

Installation Instructions: Brother plastic-shelled 300/400 Series Feets.

Sorting through a fun Typosphere care package from The Poor Typist!

Poor Typist sent me two different tape formats for the audio parts of his letter, so had to bust out the dual deck.

Weapon of Choice: “Cadwallader” 1963 Olympia SM7 #2335640

Good use of the rest of the felt sheet from padding the 440T.

Ooh, looka that green pop behind the typebars!

  1. Good work! I have a 440T, and maybe I’ll try felting the bottom.

    1. wait till you get the package I’m sending you (:

  2. Nice work on your typewriters. I still have the felt for my JP-1 typewriters in a bag under my workbench since your first post on silencing your JP-1. Rainy day today (3rd in a row), a good day for typewriter work.

  3. Michael’s sells 9″ x 12″ self-adhesive felt for under $1 per sheet. It is available in green, dark brown, blue and red. Easier and quicker than using rubber cement.

    1. ‘cept it’s super-thin. The felt I use is 6mm thick non-shedding craft felt. (:
