Times I Just Want CANDY and Times That I Want SOUL

Weapon of Choice: “Thunderbird 4” 1968 Montgomery Ward Signature 440T #C8899610 I chopped down a dozen more sheets from the ream of Wausau 70# Matte Coated Text paper I had saved back from the 90’s for the EDCN, and got curious as to whether I’d be able to find another ream when this one gets low. Turns out that Matte Coated 70# Text isn’t made anymore by any major paper company (except as label paper), so I checked the ‘Bay for what discontinued paper reams went for. Weepin’ Jeebus – closest I found was 70# Opaque White, a ream that would’ve cost $6 back in the day, going for $125. Guess I’d better enjoy this ream while it lasts, and be more aggressive about buying reams of old paper at the thrifts. :D

  1. I’m guessing “Accent Opaque White Paper, 70 lb Text Smooth, 8-1/2 x 11 inch, 500 sheets/package” B00X4U34KG on Amazon isn’t quite what you’re looking for?

I think all the thrifts in my area see paper reams, boxes of envelopes, folders, etc., as worthless and throw them out. I never see office consumables.

I like your take on what kind of music you like. I like it all… unless I don’t. Whereas you look for music that moves you, I look for music that doesn’t move me… and avoid it. (I know, it sounds like the same thing, but I believe there is a difference.) As a result, I love all kinds of music from Classical to death metal. Of course, I have genres I gravitate towards, such as classic rock (The Doors), alternative rock (Radiohead), space music/New Age (Tangerine Dream), jazz (Baker, Gillespie, Parker, Davis), and so on. I believe music is medicine, and every genre addresses a different ailment. And let me tell you, I’m one sick puppy.

    1. Nah, Opaque White isn’t the same as Matte Coated – there’s no clay layer. I did find some 80# Futura Matte C/2S in like poster size for $62/ream, so I suppose there are options out there.
