Wow, it must be Olympia week at Goodwill! After my great find of the 1966 SM-9 yesterday, I hit up the other two Goodwill stores today, and lo and behold, I find another Oly SM-9, this time a 1968 model, for $9. Sadly, the case was missing, so I at first passed it up. Later, I thought that it would still be a nice addition to Magic Margin’s Classroom Typewriter Project, even without a case, so I went back and picked it up.
Of course, with these new Olympias needing ribbons, I also had to stop by Bill Wahl’s Mesa Typewriter Exchange and pick up some new ones, and spent some time shooting the breeze about his lust for a Smith Premier 1 and my hankering for a nice black Voss, and I noticed he had posted a couple of posters up in his shop for the March 5th Type-in, which he will be bringing a couple of machines to. I’ll likely bring my main machines as well – Easy, Moneypenny, Einstein and either Nick Charles or Boswell, depending on how finicky Nick Charles is on that particular day. It’s going to be a lot of fun sipping Tiki drinks and typing & rubbing shoulders with some typerati that I only know from typecasting blogs. Hopefully, you’ll come too!
