Now that’s more like it! still a little overexposed, but I’m still playing with it. If I can get this adapter mess sorted out, I’ll try the 2X teledaptor and see if I can get twice as close :D
There’s some weird Doppler-effectish color shift at the top and bottom of the moon. Blue-shifted at the top and red-shifted at the bottom. I wonder if that’s subtle camera shake or lens imperfection.

Incidentally, to get a moon shot you’ll expose better in manual mode – setting the exposure to settings much closer to what you would use in daylight. Last moon shots I did, I look at F8/125 and worked up from there.
Yep, that’s what I figured out last night, full manual mode controlling ISO and shutter speed on the camera and aperture & focus on the lens. The one above was shot at f8 1/40sec ISO 200, i believe. I need to take notes next time. It’s good practice, trying to get a really good shot of the moon – and I’ll be very happy when I achieve that.
If you zoom in close enough, you can just see a shiny little Olivetti DL left behind by Aldrin.
