Last night’s Movie In The Eyeholes: Altman’s “The Long Goodbye“. Like every other Altman film, it’s muddled and somewhat incoherent on first watch because of often ad-libbed and overlapping dialogue, but worth a second watch to really get what’s going on. Weird choice of having all the in-universe music just be different renditions of the title song. This follows a week of watching detective shows and some Darrin McGavin series, so I suppose I was in a mood, but the Jellyfin is finally in a state where I can indulge such week-long whims – the streaming service that actually has stuff I want to watch. (:
I have a lot to catch up on with your blog! Sorry it’s been so long. Still battling.
I highly recommend Lucky (2017) for the eyeholes. It’s one of the best films I’ve seen in recent memory. A performance of a lifetime by Harry Dean Stanton, and the best monologue about tortoises ever filmed, as delivered by David Lynch.
I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie, and an even bigger fan of David Suchet as Hercule Poirot.
Hoping to get back to letter writing shortly.
Ok, got it in the Jellyfin, and on the watch list (:
