Special Tape Pals Edition: Letterpress 1997 & Sounds of Night 2001

Making J-Cards. We’ll be using Maxell Professional Industrial Communicator Series C-90 Type I’s with Dolby B Noise Reduction.

Recording to the tape from the Topping D90 32bit DAC.

Special Edition Presentation Box for a Very Special Tape Pal! :D

These Maxells are an excellent fit for this project, and I have 8 of them all from the same brick. Did you know you can put a date on a Maxell cassette from the lot number engraved in the top? It’s a coded number that tells the manufacture day of the lot and where it was made! You have to figure out the decade from the shell style, but these were made starting 1995, so #G132B5B4 translates to USA-made on July 13, 2002.

I have been lucky to score a few boxes of Cassette Label Blanks, suitable for printing and typewriting on, at thrifts over the years.

Even more Special Episodes hot off the griddle!

  1. …Is this what I think it is?
Be honest: Is this tape addressed to me?
If it is, then I’m truly enthralled! All the talk I’ve made of making a Tape Pals 3-Way, & it’s finally coming into fruition!

    1. Actually, it’s the thing I’m sending to someone to get that third participant enticed. Still haven’t got an answer. (:
