It’s interesting that the article focuses on electronic typewriters as an increasingly popular incarnation of the typewriter in 1987 and 1988. These are the ones I see most often at the thrift stores, mostly forlorn and unwanted.
Ahh, the forlorn plastic wedge. I have a post coming up which will be complimentary to the wedge, as I’m particularly interested in finding one with a Centronics parallel port built in, so it could be used as a daisywheel printer. I finally found a list from a Popular Science of the 1980’s that indicates the names of a number of models that qualify. I have not yet seen one in the wild.
