1981 Yashica Auto Focus Motor, an early plastic fantastic all-in-one point-n-shoot. Notable for it’s quite good Yashinon f2.8 38mm glass and odd features like manually-set ISO and focus lock button. It takes AA batteries, so no nasty, expensive 2CR5. This one sat in the “collectables” case at Deseret priced @$10 for a week before someone decided it belonged in the $2 camera shelf, and it was re-priced accordingly. I snapped it up then.
Minolta XG-M seen at North Goodwill today. I alerted Key Snap about it, but he’s more into large format stuff now.
My Minolta XG-M, picked up yesterday at South Goodwill for a pittance, probably because it was seized solid – none of the controls worked, and the shutter was frozen at half-cock. I liked the f1.7 50mm lens and kinda wanted a project to work on this weekend, so I took it home. Turned out all it needed was a fresh battery and a little careful prodding of the shutter. It un-seized with a polite *click* and works great now. :D
The “flash of familiar blue”. Yeah, we’ve seen that before :D
This odd typecast missive was included with the Corsair 710. No idea if it was written by the machine’s original owner or some thrift shopping passerby.
Pretty nifty li’l typer for $9.99!
I agree, and what a relief (:
I liked the other Corsair I picked up as well, but a friend was in need, and the pretty blue machine was a perfect fit, so it got gifted off. Maybe *this one* I’ll keep. :D
$9.99??? Words fail me.
Your making out like a bandit, Ted! Especially where Minolta SLRs are concerned.
“Goodwill Hunting” isn’t that a movie… ?
Haha! Now I can never watch that movie again without thinking this!
Great week Ted! Luckily your typewriter hunting ground has got a bit of sense slapped into it again. Hopefully the other prices will soon fall down too.
Tough to buy at $60 what you know you can get at $10… ive the same issue only it seems typers are crazy expensive here is SoCal that $60 sounds like ebba bargain!
Yeah, I’m sure I sound like a nut complaining about the “high” prices here when most of the Goodwills outside of Phoenix send their typers and cameras to the Shop Goodwill auction site, and thus the brick stores tend to be empty or overpriced. I know that this anomaly in the local market can’t last forever, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts. :D
