Something for everyone: My 333rd Post!

This post is number 333 for this blog, on my third year, so I seem to be averaging 111 posts a year (that’s for Al, who gets unduly excited about the number 11). Not too bad, and far better than I expected to be able to do. I could do more, though. Many things I type up as posts never get finished, or get finished and never get posted because something more interesting happened first and I lose track of what’s in the pipeline to be scanned, matched with photos from phone or camera & posted. The typecasting process is a bit more complicated than just sitting in front of a keyboard, and sometimes I just don’t get around to doing it as often as I oughta.

So now here’s a medley of photos of fun times that happened the past few months, but I never got around to typecasting about:

For Adwoa, a sewing machine, sighted at Goodwill a few weeks ago. Very stylish machine, and it made me think of you!

And for my homies in Tucson, pics of our Christmas with our favourite Vampire and Zombie:

Simon and Janine invited Tori and I & Chip & Autumn to spend Christmas with them. It was an excellent weekend!

They have a T.A.R.D.I.S. in their backyard:

Being in Tucson was a great excuse to drop by the Kon Tiki and enjoy some drinks!

After we had our fill of Fogcutters and Scorpion Bowls, we ventured to a neighborhood where it is *manditory* for homeowners to put on a Christmas light show every year. Totalitarianism seems to work in this case, although there are some who rebel with a sense of humor. Highlights of the evening were “The Elvis House”, “Santa’s Bar” (complete with 8-foot christmas tree made out of whiskey bottles) and “Santa Playing Poker”:

Oh, and then there was New Year. All I remember is this bottle of booze that contained a dead Cobra and Scorpion along with some odd root-like thing that might have been Mandrake or Echinacea:

Yes, someone ate the Scorpion, and we all had a drink from the bottle at midnight. I’m proud to say I was one of only two people who did not yawn technicolor that night. Someone threw the Cobra in the fire, and it exploded in green flame.

Oh, and then there was this neat old tape recorder in a leather case with shoulder strap, a gift from Abi. Belts seem good, and I did get it working well and fiddling with the insides a bit.

And what else? Well, Baconfest was the other night, but there’s still a chance I could finish a typecast about that, so I’ll save it. And now you’re up to date!

  1. You two sure are fun to hang around. So many interests for discussion!

  2. Thanks for sharing the picture of that snazzy Singer! It is really lovely and I like that it comes with a table. Congratulations on your 333rd post – I definitely agree that at times needing to produce a typecast gets in the way of blogging, but you are getting around that nicely with your very realistic typewriter font!

  3. I’m trying to imagine a pickled cobra bursting into green flames. #munkknowshowtoparty

  4. Gee whiz! Cobra?!
    Wowsers.

    Love the T.A.R.D.I.S shed! :D
