“My Friends, and things I should Remember about them” Published in 1949 by Harold B. Lopaus – 50 cents @ Deseret
In 1949, you were expected to keep track of the really important things like what your friends smoked, drank and read. Vital sizes for various intimate clothing items for your lady friends are also emphasized, although I’m not sure why you’d need 3 lines just for “Pajamas”. There are 50 more pages just like this for entering data on your pals. Interestingly, despite being identical, they are individually numbered.
In the pack, there are some handy tips on writing letters for various social situations, and a few lists of birthstones and anniversary gifts. Quite handy!
You know, Ted, if they handed this book out to kids in primary schools, the world would be a better place in some ways. Thanks for posting this. The condolence letter/note examples are nicely composed, but yeah, I too can’t understand why you’d need three lines for pyjama sizes.
This is what facebook COULD or SHOULD have been. It’s what I use it for, but is kind of hit and miss as to life events, depending on my friends’ settings. Also love the sample notes. I use an Emily Post book from 1946 for such reference material.
This is a dated reply, but the three lines under pajamas is for special categories. I found this post after googling the book. My mother had one, which I just discovered. She used the blank lines under pajamas and favorite hobby for special categories. She noted the silver pattern of some of her friends.
She had her friends and relatives fill out their own pages. I don’ know how seriously they all took it. My uncle put his favorite sport as “feetsball” and his favorite author as “Al Capp.”

Maybe tops, bottoms, and slippers? Night shirt? Brooks Brothers still makes them.
And now we have the Internet! No need to remember, just let Facebook (or whatever social media site) take care of the details!
OK, that said, how nice it was to receive a handwritten letter today from a colleague. Such missives should not be undervalued.

This is such a cool thing. It would be wonderful to do a reprint. I would buy one in a second.
well, the copy I have is un-marked. The previous owner apparently had no friends. You want this one?
