I actually walked right by this plastic case containing the Typestar 5. Its size and shape isn't consistent with what a typewriter case usually looks like. Something made me pause and go back to look again, though...

Yow, that’s a pretty good price for the Selectric. I bought the very same model online some years ago for $99!
I had a Canon Typestar in the 90’s; I think mind was the 6. Mine was self correcting; some weren’t. I bought it to take in a briefcase on business trips. It was less expensive then than a portable printer. It was non-impact, basically silent, worked beautifully on battery, very small, very lightweight. Biggest limitation? The little ribbons. Not made to substitute regularly for a typewriter, not enough capacity. Beautiful typing, though, perfect self-correction. I think mine got dropped in a hotel, as I remember, ending its little career after a year or two.
