It’s Autumn Type-In Season in Phoenix!

2018 has been a great year for Type-Ins, not only in the Phoenix area, but all over the country. The Revolution expands and catches fire everywhere it touches, and burns with a ferocity that cannot be quenched. The romance, utility and flexibility of the Typewriter Life reaches deep into the soul and connects with that creative ember within many, many people – and they continue to find new ways to use the machine to express that creativity. It’s definitely not just about collecting anymore, even if some of the Typewriter Hunter spirit is omnipresent in the breed.

The Type-In is the place where we get to meet the others of our sect, the brothers and sisters who understand our love for the lifestyle. It is the sanctuary where for a few exciting hours we can be among our kind, admiring the chrome and steel that others have found. This Autumn there are at least two more Phoenix area Type-Ins, one put together by the capable organizing efforts of The Daily Platen, in conjunction with The First Draft Book Bar in Changing Hands Bookstore:

And, once you’ve started coming down from that jolt of caffeinated clackity-clack comradery, you can get a fillup of fun at the Chandler Sunset Library, where The Quirky Qwerty presents the Third CSL Type-In:

I’m planning on attending both and, as usual, writing up a report. I hear Clark-Novas are good for writing reports, though I normally use a Krupps Dominator. It’s company policy. :D

  5. I’m so happy to see the interest in both of these type-ins. Watching Phoenix grow as a symphony of typeslugs and typewriter bells has been wonderful. Viva la revolucion!

  6. One of these days I will have to make a pilgrimage to Phoenix – seems like a very happening place for typewriters.

  7. Is there a category in the DB for fictitious models? You seem to have quite the collection!

    1. well, trying to slim down to just 40, so one has to have a few fictional ones to round out the missing ones (:
